Here is a link to Microsoft's website showing you how to install or reinstall your Windows XP operating system. You could save yourself the expense of taking your computer in for service if you have confidence in completing the task yourself. Doing an Operating System Install or Reinstall will give your computer a fresh start. Be sure to save any files that you don't want to lose prior to doing the reinstall. Also you want to make sure that any files you add back to your fresh install is clean from any malware.

Click on the Crucial banner link to run a scan of your computer. It will show you how much and what kind of memory (RAM) your computer has in it and it will also let you know if you can upgrade. You can also buy your upgrade right from their site if you choose. It is best to use Internet Explorer browser when running the scan.
